Championing Local Artists

Bristol’s arts scene is as strong as ever. Here at The Galli we feature work by:
Ged Palmer

Ged Palmer

Ged Palmer has been instrumental in the look of the Galli, having designed our branding and hand painted our 30 foot frontage (twice!). Ged got flown out to New York to receive a Type Directors Award for the original branding and recently painted/gold-leafed a new Galli ‘G’ in our front window. www.gedpalmer.com

Maximillion Malone

Maximillion Malone searches through charity shops and car boot sales to find fragments of intrigue from unwanted images; extracting elements from their homes & presenting them in playful new ways. His bar collage is the latest addition to the Galli and took 6 weeks to apply, countless more in preparation maxmalone.tumblr.com

Dave Bain

Dave Bain’s mural was the first commissioned piece. The characters painted are the imaginings of magical scenes tucked away deep inside some forgotten, wild, English woodland, where life is childlike and the lines are blurred between human and animal. A love of myth, legend, fantasy, Narnia and mystical stories by George MacDonald fed into the influence of the scene, combined with a fondness for strong colour and geometrical shapes. davebain.com

Jamaica St artist Mr Mead worked through the small hours realising his intricate vision. Never far behind was Richard Broomhall, who produced this stunning short film – ’14 Vulpine Nights’ – documenting the journey and some of the events held at The Galli during this time. Tom’s work has been exhibited in the prestigious View Gallery recently and also cult publication Juxtaposz – he has a bright future! mrmead.co.uk

Lucie Smailes

Lucie Smailes’ peculiar presence is strong around the bar! From ‘dolls lamps’, to ‘chandelier 88 facets’ to assorted works in the gallery – all for sale – Lucie combines found relics with hand-crafted sculptures, to create a theatre of extraordinary, dreamlike visual poetry. luciesmailes.wordpress.com

Josh Owen

Josh has completed two hand drawn animal-inspired ‘Galli’ murals on one of our restaurant walls – in shot is the ‘mk II’ version. Available for commissions, visit his website for more info ursusillustration.com

Hanna Sunny

Hanna Sunny

Hana Sunny joined us fresh off the Falmouth boat, soon becoming a highly valued member of our front of house team as well as in-house signwriter. Happily, she’s flown the nest now working as a freelance illustrator and sign painter based in Bristol. Our listing’s boards, a-boards and other typographic pieces are her lovely work www.hanasunny.co.uk
