Lily Mackay & Friends: A Night of Timberlake
We welcome you back to the Gallimaufry once again for the 4th edition of Lily Mackay and Friends! This time we’re bringing you something a bit different as we rework the music of Justin Timberlake, revisiting some of the bangers we grew up listening to. On this night we’ll be stepping back into the noughties soul pop/rnb era to share with you a fun and light-hearted evening of great music, spotlighting his catchy grooves and melodies that are sure to have your feet two-stepping.
We love the NPR Tiny Desk Concerts and his performance with his band in particular surprised and inspired us to try our own take on it.
So come down to the Gallimaufry at 9pm on the 10th September for a night of Timberlake re-imagined - a boogie and a singalong are guaranteed.

Chubaby + Poor Old Dogs
The return of two of our favourite artists for a not to be missed get down double-header.
Chubaby combines social commentary and surrealist modern storytelling, drawing on a DIY tradition akin to the likes of R. Stevie Moore and Jeffrey Lewis. Chubaby has been described as 'very clever' by Amy Lamé, BBC 6 Music and 'a witty and wonderfully imaginative multi-instrumentalist', Isaak Lewis Smith, Electronic Sound Magazine. Having just released new album 'Almost Unbearable', Chubaby is on the road through September and for the Bristol leg they're gracing The Gallimaufry stage.
Poor Old Dogs are a riotous folk band from Bristol, bringing beer-soaked mayhem and foot-stomping energy to the timeless traditions of UK and Irish folk music. Having been playing together for over a decade, they've honed their craft and their chaos, with a knack for turning any gig into a rollicking, rowdy singalong.
They deliver raucous tunes, wild stories, and the kind of chaos that pairs perfectly with a pint (or three), performing both traditional music and their own self-penned songs.
This is going to be a fun one!

ZENA's Folk Jam
Zena is a Neo-soul and folk artist who found her beginnings as a musician in the vibrant folk community that resides in the South West, and more specifically Devon. Drawing inspiration from the folk jams and singarounds that would happen in pubs and venues throughout tiny villages and towns in Dartmoor, these spaces served as an incredibly inclusive outlet for musicians and music lovers of all levels and ages. Zena now aims to bring this love of music, dance and folk to the Galli for a one night only folk jam, with sounds reminiscent of bands such as Fairport Convention and Steeleye Span. With a range of talented musicians joining in the house band, such as violinist Miranda Faye, guitarist Ollie Armstrong, and Lapsteel instrumentalist Will Murphy to name a few, we encourage as a collective to bring down your instruments in a free for all night of laughter, music and dance.

Below the Belt Presents: Wakey Wakey Rise & Shine
Slowly assembled together after years of “life's wonderful lived experiences” - at college, at Green Man festival, on Gumtree adverts, at gigs - Wakey Wakey Rise & Shine eventually emerged in Bristol in 2020.
Influenced by the likes of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Snapped Ankles, and the New Wave trailblazers DEVO and B-52s, the band came to define their Psychedelic/post-punk sound; frilly psychedelic melodies fused with the fuzzed-up fury of high-octane post-punk, all powered by an embrace of all things silly and irreverent: “fun and mischievous ways of expressing yourself within art is probably an artist's greatest weapon”, explains Seamus, “Collectively we enjoy being a bit silly with our ideas and keeping the writing process interesting and playful.”
The band have been generating new fans through their unpredictable live shows with their music receiving airplay on BBC Radio 6 Music, BBC Introducing in the West and Radio X.

Below the Belt presents: WINDSHAKE
Emerging from the cultural melting pot of Bristol's vibrant underground scene, WINDSHAKE embodies the unbounded frontiers of musical exploration.
This audacious six-piece collective rejects conformity, drawing inspiration from the raw essence of youth culture to craft music that plumbs the depths of the human mind. Their genesis traces back to the hidden corners of side street alleyways and grassroots venues, where they absorbed Bristol's pulsating artistic energy. Their debut album, 'Waking Moment,' a fusion of Psych-folk and distinct songwriting, laid the foundation for their forthcoming musical odyssey.
Now, with a raw, unrestrained sound, WINDSHAKE's sonic landscape mirrors the tumultuous echoes of man-made thunder rolling through the peaks of the West Country, resonating within Bristol's graffiti-strewn streets. An interplay of funky basslines, African-infused drum rhythms, and the poignant blend of poetic lyrics and evocative guitar tones paints a vivid musical tapestry, a true reflection of their urban origins.

Nile Robinson is a much mentioned name in the current Bristol music scene playing solo and on top of The Countrymen, Wifi Memory and Tattoo Destiny. Nile most recently ran the Folke Fort stage at The Midsommar Mansion Festival. He has already joined Eve Appleton Band on stage during their residency at The Gallimaufry but this will be his first headline show at 26-28 Gloucester Road. Be a witness.

Pulp Fiction & The Best of Tarantino Live
Florence Knight Presents: Pulp Fiction Live ain’t your average lounge act. They’re a high-octane, vinyl-crackling ensemble of Bristol’s finest session slingers, ripping through the Pulp Fiction soundtrack like a straight razor through banana pancakes.
Imagine: a smoke-filled club, neon buzzing like a broken promise, and then bam!—that surf guitar twang hits you like a jab to the ribs. Behind it? A hit squad of musicians who’ve played with everyone worth name-dropping in the South West and beyond. They don’t wear suits for style—they wear ‘em like armor. Because when they step on stage, it’s showtime. And somebody’s about to get sonically whacked.
Leading the charge is Florence Knight, whose sultry, razor-sharp vocals could melt ice in Jack Rabbit Slim’s. She doesn’t just sing the songs—you feel ‘em in your bones. On guitar, Adam Holgate brings the kind of surf-infused grit and tremolo-drenched bite that would make Vince Vega spill his milkshake. And when Sophie Stockham takes the stage with her saxophone? It’s like a gun going off in slow motion—smooth, seductive, and absolutely dangerous, while Lyle Anderton’s trumpet cuts through the air like a warning shot in a desert standoff.
On keys, Tom Berge lays down vintage grooves straight from a lost '70s reel, while Coreysan holds the foundation on bass—deep, dubby, and dirty enough to rattle the floorboards. Behind it all, Max Harrison drives the whole thing forward on drums, tight and relentless, like a getaway car skidding around every corner on the beat.
This outfit doesn’t just stick to Pulp Fiction. Oh no. They dive into the Tarantino vault—pulling out gems from the legendary filmmakers’ back catalogue. And every track hits like a pulp paperback to the face. From the seductive strut of Let’s Stay Together to the adrenaline-snorting rush of Misirlou, they play every note like it was dipped in blood, bourbon, and black vinyl. It ain’t a tribute. It’s a resurrection.
Directed by the ghost of Tarantino himself (probably), Florence Knight Presents: Pulp Fiction Live brings cinema to life—loud, live, and cooler than a $5 milkshake.
So get ready. The band’s here, and they’re gonna blow the doors off this joint.

Akané + Hexcut
Buzzing to announce this double headline show with Hexcut and Akané at the Gallimaufry on Tuesday July 29th!

Akané are excited to return to the Galli for another night of uplifting electronic music. Mixing live house, indie and a groove based sound in an immersive experience with seamless transitions. Stylish synths blended with hypnotic guitar, solid drum beats and floating percussion create tight arrangements and a rhythm-driven performance.
