BEJE is a slightly shifting sea of mainland contemporary European jazz musicians who've made a home in Bristol. Holding the core is Milesian trumpeter composer Swiss-Englishman David Mowat and this band combo is otherwise all-Italian.

Flamboyant expressive double bassist Federico Leonori, sensitive gentle drummer Mattia Collu and newbie avant-garde flautist and guitarist Fabio Ferri are joined by maestro Enrico Merlin, an unclassifiable electric guitarist coming especially from Trento giving the whole shebang an alpine spacious ambience. Mowat has long wanted to migrate beyond North American jazz shores and this band will take listeners to unchartered places, albeit with soulful lyricism and grooves to help the climbs and landing.
