Shadowstep

An introspective look at songwriting practices through the lens of philosophy, literature and folklore.

Âellin's four-piece journey through songs from their upcoming album, with vignettes inspired by Carl Jung, Marcel Proust, Virginia Woolf, Kashuro Ishiguro and the folklore surrounding female figures of global myth and folklore. This curated evening will explore how we reflect idiosyncratic personal experiences and confessional writing with the cultural tropes found across peoples, continents and generations. From the personal unconscious to the collective.

The live show features evocative vocal and lyrical practices, intricate fingerstyle guitar, cello, double bass, violin, voice harmony and drums, bedded into a carefully woven sound world of samples, warming sub bass and granular synthesis.

"The crowd is subdued, engaged. Magill's smooth vocals and masterful jazz guitar playing set the scene...Emotion and musical excellence are at the forefront of the show." - Bristol 24/7
